16.45 - 18.15 “The wood-scented eco house”
A guided tour of two local Predazzo companies: Rasom casa-clima and Fiemme 3000 bio-flooring. The wood that is produced in Val di Fiemme is very special, all because of geographical location and the unique microclimate the area enjoys. The trees grow very evenly and yield timber that is both dense and highly-resistant; so much so that some businesses had the idea of substituting the wood for bricks and reinforced concrete, not in building mountain chalets but six-storey apartment blocks and hotels! Even the floors are all in wood, carefully treated with essential oils. It would be a crime to smother the woodland scent of the wood with paint and varnish.
Predazzo: Meet outside the Fiemme 3000 company’s main entrance.
10.00 - 12.30, “Follow the track, identify the creature”
The snow-covered landscape of Passo Lavazé may look perfectly still but far from it. To know so, you only have to observe the many footprints left in the snow by stags, roe deer, foxes and other wild animals. Walking in the woods with the guide you’ll discover some surprising signs of life. At the end of the excursion (a total of 5km there and back) there is an optional lunch in a mountain lodge.

In a time when ordinary domestic objects from the past are becoming objects of interest, here is something new. The Carano municipality has recently restored a very old building – in its entirety – as an example of part of the area’s architectural and cultural roots. The building showcases all the things that were once everyday objects and on which a family’s survival often depended.
